And the door was shut! (24)7)2023)

Matthew 25:10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut."
One of Jesus’ teachings on preparation for His return used the example of the ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. The exact date and time wasn’t certain. But they had to be ready all the time so that they would be found ready. Some who didn’t stock enough oil for their lamps went out to buy. The bridegroom came, and the door was shut. They were late!
Such is the scenario today as we look forward to the coming of the Lord. The date and hour no one knows. But we are to be ready at all times as we watch the signs. The foolish virgins who didn’t store enough oil to keep their lamps burning, represents the careless believer. They are not giving due diligence to the state of their relationship with God.
The wise virgins are those who keep constantly ready as they wait for the Lord. Once the bridegroom comes, those who are ready will go with Him. And the door will be shut. Whoever wasn’t found ready will be left out. Their pleading to be allowed in will not be honoured. The Lord will deny them. And it will be too late!
Matthew 25:11-13 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."
