Learning to listen (14/7/2023)
Revelation 2:29 "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
This was Jesus’ conclusion in all the messages to the seven churches. To each church was a particular message. These included instructions, warnings, encouragements, rebukes, and guidance for right living. The Spirit continues to speak today for similar reasons. He has messages for all, individuals and groups. But are the people in the churches listening?
We cannot be in step with the Spirit unless we are tuned to hear Him. It is those with spiritually open ears who can hear Him. This takes sensitivity and discernment in the spirit. And He is willing to enable all those who want to hear Him, to hear. This is not for selected few. Most people fail to hear because they are more focused on the physical environment than the spiritual.
God is always speaking. The Spirit speaks from the mind of God. Over time, and with commitment, we can train our spiritual ears to hear the Lord speak and distinguish His voice from others. We can reach levels where we are guided by Him in every step of our lives, in the small and big matters of life. That’s a beautiful life, full of peace as He guides us. He speaks peace. You too can hear Him.
John 10:4-5 "When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
