When human abilities fail!(R) (26/1/2023)

By Pastor Dr. Aggrey Soyekwo

Isaiah 40:29-31 "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - NIV

God strongly spoke to remind Israel about His unlimited power over humanity and His incomparability with idols or anything in all creation. Then He comes to the point of His support for those who trust in Him. God never gets tired or weary, is unlimited and Almighty.

As mortal beings, we get tired and wear out. We are weak and fail in many things because we are limited. But God promises to give us strength in life’s weak moments. Youths are the epitome of human strength. They have all the energy and vigor to do whatever they wish. But being human, they still get tired, wear out, stumble and fall. This equally represents the things we are good, experienced and skilled at. A time comes that we fail even in the things we do best.

Human abilities at their best can fail. That’s when we need external support from the One who never gets tired or weary. We get are tired and burn out. But as we trust and submit to God, He renews our strength like the old eagles which renew themselves and come back fresh and strong. It’s only then we can steadfastly move on with the Lord, year in year out, without quiting. Let’s learn to hope in God. So did the psalmist write;

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalms 73:26)

Shalom children of God.
